## What it does [#what-it-does]

Record a weak observation in one call, without asserting a finding, creating a work item, or blocking the current work. Cheap to write, never rejected: the capture lands in the triage inbox raw, with its origin (the run and work item it was noticed during) and the index generation it was observed at stamped automatically.

## When to use it [#when-to-use-it]

**Use when:** you noticed something mid-task that should not die in prose — a suspicious pattern, a missing test, a naming inconsistency, a possible follow-up — but asserting a finding or opening a work item would cost more than the moment allows · "note this for later" · "someone should look at this" while staying in scope

**Also use when:** you want to stay in the current work item and still leave a durable, queryable trace: a capture never changes the work item's state and returns immediately

## When not to use it [#when-not-to-use-it]

the observation is already a located, defensible finding — use the finding tools (author\_finding); or it is actionable NOW and belongs in the plan — use manage\_work\_item; or it is a conversation excerpt for the library — use library\_capture. A capture is deliberately weaker than all of these; triage promotes it later if it earns it.
