## What it does [#what-it-does]

What context has been assembled recently (which tool, real item count, real token estimate, whether it was a cache hit, staleness in ms — project-wide, not scoped to one work item, since the instrumentation does not record that), plus the ADR-07 five-state freshness (current/stale/superseded/unresolved/invalid) of every asserted edge — an aggregate rollup and, per segment, individually, so a stale segment is visible as stale rather than folded into a count.

## When to use it [#when-to-use-it]

**Use when:** "how much context did this cost" · "which segments are stale" · "was this context reused from cache" · "what does the freshness model actually say right now"

**Also use when:** building the Work > Context surface, or auditing whether staleness is actually visible anywhere before trusting an assembled context

## When not to use it [#when-not-to-use-it]

you want to TRIGGER a freshness re-sweep — this tool only reads the last-computed state; a sweep runs as part of reindexing (see asserted-edge-freshness-port.ts)
