## What it does [#what-it-does]

Reads back a previously created ingestion batch receipt (by batchId) or a preview's current status (by previewId) — survives a process restart, since both are persisted in the local project database.

## When to use it [#when-to-use-it]

**Use when:** "what happened to that import" · "check the status of the last library import" · "did the ingestion finish"

**Also use when:** after a restart, to resume checking on a batch/preview started in a prior session
