## What it does [#what-it-does]

An inventory of every file in the repo: path, language, LOC, last commit, symbol count. Skips .git/node\_modules/dist. Defaults to 5,000 files (not a ceiling); truncation is disclosed via `truncated`/`totalCount`/`note`.

**Use when:** "show me the files in this repo" · "give me an inventory of every file with line counts"

**Also use when:** the user is picking a focus target from the file tree

## When not to use it [#when-not-to-use-it]
