## What it does [#what-it-does]

Widget-only: returns a base64 byte range of one recording or visual-check screenshot listed by a verification request. Registered outside tools/list and refused to any call not originating from the embedded workspace; recording and screenshot bytes never belong in model context.

## When to use it [#when-to-use-it]

**Use when:** "play this recording" — but from the Proof RecordingViewer, never from a model (the viewer calls it to play a recording)

**Also use when:** never — there is no model-side use of artifact bytes

## When not to use it [#when-not-to-use-it]

you are a model: use strata19.get\_verification\_request for the metadata (digests, sizes, chapters); the bytes are not available to you
