Test an extension
Use the narrowest test that proves each boundary, then finish with the packaged path:
- Contract tests: schemas, discriminators, typed failures, and stable result envelopes.
- Registry tests: tool projections, detector declarations, skill ownership, and manifest coverage.
- Behavior tests: real graph, storage, or dispatcher logic with fixtures that can fail for the intended reason.
- Package tests: copy the plugin to a clean temporary directory and launch its committed
.mcp.jsoncommand. - Interface tests: render real view models, exercise keyboard and reduced-motion behavior, and inspect a browser screenshot.
- Release tests: rebuild artifacts, verify source parity, and verify checksums.
A source-level unit test cannot prove the versioned installed copy works. Include at least one clean-install tool round trip before release.
