Strata19 for Codex

Free Local

Use the same free local project layer from Codex CLI or Codex Desktop. Strata19 adds durable context, specifications, work, routines, approvals, checkpoints, and evidence to the harness; Desktop can also place the project pane beside the conversation.

Install and connect

Step 1

Add the Strata19 marketplace

Register the pinned Git marketplace used by the released plugin package.

Step 2

Install the plugin

Adding a marketplace does not install its plugins. Install Strata19 explicitly, then restart the host so the version-keyed cache is reloaded.

Step 3

Trust the lifecycle hooks

In a Codex conversation, run /hooks and approve the Strata19 session-bind and done-gate definitions. Until approved, MCP tools still work but lifecycle binding and the completion gate remain inactive.

Step 4

Bind your project

Open the target repository and ask Strata19 to initialize the project. If the host does not advertise the correct MCP root, provide the repository path explicitly.

Verify the connection

Confirm Codex reports the plugin installed, then make one real project call. The result should contain repository-derived evidence rather than a generic success message.

Know the boundary

  • • Hook execution requires a separate trust decision; an installed plugin does not imply trusted hooks.
  • • The visual pane depends on the capabilities enabled by the Codex version you are running. The MCP tool surface remains the functional floor.
  • • Free Local keeps repository analysis and project state on your machine. Model-assisted features remain off until you configure a provider.
