Work and checkpoints

Work items are durable descriptions of changes, bugs, features, decisions, and specification deltas. strata19.manage_work_item creates and refines them; strata19.get_next_task and task management operations expose executable slices.

A checkpoint captures the graph state used to resume or compare work. It complements Git: Git preserves files and history, while a checkpoint preserves the indexed project context Strata19 was reasoning from.

Good work items name the outcome, affected area, constraints, and evidence expected at completion. They should not copy an entire chat transcript. Link decisions when a choice changes the intended implementation, and link findings when the work exists to resolve measured evidence.
