Configuration
Every registered STRATA19_* setting, its type and its default, generated from the settings registry
Every setting below is registered in the plugin, which means it can be read and
written through the settings tool as well as set as an environment variable. The
registry is the source of truth: a STRATA19_* variable the plugin reads is
expected to appear there, and this page is generated from it, so the names, types
and defaults here cannot drift from the ones the plugin actually applies.
Connection and credentials
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
STRATA19_MODEL | string | unset | Model identifier for model-assisted features. |
STRATA19_MODEL_BASE_URL | string | unset | Base URL of the inference endpoint those features call. |
STRATA19_API_KEY | string | unset | API key for the Strata19 living graph. Without it, and without an endpoint, graph-backed features report that they are unavailable rather than guessing. |
STRATA19_API_ENDPOINT | string | unset | Endpoint for the Strata19 living graph. |
STRATA19_WEB_BASE | string | unset | Origin of the Strata19 web app. Setting it opts the widget out of its bundled default and into an iframe pointing at that origin. |
Spend and effort ceilings
These are runaway guards, not spending plans. Each one is set far above any legitimate workload, so hitting one means something has gone wrong rather than that the work was unusually large. Each default matches the owning module's own default — a test pins that, because a divergence would make the settings tool report a number the plugin does not use.
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
STRATA19_LIST_FILES_LIMIT | number | 5000 | Default cap on files a listing returns. A caller that explicitly asks for more gets more, up to the whole repository. |
STRATA19_MODEL_MAX_CALLS | number | 10000 | Hard ceiling on model calls in a run. |
STRATA19_INTAKE_INFERENCE_MAX_CALLS | number | 5000 | Hard ceiling on model calls made during intake. |
STRATA19_SPECBOOK_BUDGET_USD | number | 25 | Spend ceiling for specbook generation, in US dollars. |
STRATA19_AUTO_BATCH_BUDGET_USD | number | 1 | Spend ceiling for one automatic batch, in US dollars. |
STRATA19_AUTO_BATCH_FILES | number | 20 | Most files one automatic batch will take. |
STRATA19_SEMANTIC_BUDGET_MS | number | 0 | Time budget for semantic detectors, in milliseconds. 0 applies no budget. |
STRATA19_TOOL_CALL_TIMEOUT_MS | number | 8000 | Timeout for a single tool call, in milliseconds. |
STRATA19_API_TIMEOUT_MS | number | 8000 | Timeout for calls to the Strata19 API, in milliseconds. |
Behaviour
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
STRATA19_MCP_PRESET | string | unset | Which tool preset the MCP server exposes. |
STRATA19_SEMANTIC_DETECTORS | string | unset | Semantic detectors run unless this is explicitly set to an off value. |
STRATA19_SPECBOOK_LAZY | boolean | false | Defer specbook work rather than doing it eagerly. |
Paths and project binding
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
STRATA19_PROJECT_ROOT | string | unset | Pins the project root instead of letting it be resolved. |
STRATA19_CHECKPOINT_DB | string | unset | Path to the checkpoint database. |
STRATA19_SPECBOOK_DIR | string | unset | Directory the specbook markdown is written to. |
Internal
Listed for completeness because they are registered. They are not configuration knobs, and setting them by hand is not supported.
| Setting | Type | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
STRATA19_BEGIN_SENTINEL | string | unset | Internal. Marks the start of a managed block. |
STRATA19_END_SENTINEL | string | unset | Internal. Marks the end of a managed block. |
STRATA19_PLUGIN_VERSION__ | string | unset | Internal. The trailing underscores mark it private to the plugin. |
STRATA19_TRUSTED_BUNDLE_SHA | string | unset | Internal. Supply-chain pin for the shipped bundle. |
STRATA19_INFERENCE_ALLOW_INSECURE_LOCAL_ENDPOINT_FOR_TEST | boolean | false | Test only, as the name says. Not for normal use. |
Model keys are not set here
STRATA19_MODEL_KEY is deliberately not a registered setting. A value stored
through the settings tool would be reachable by that tool but not by the model
resolution chain, so the key would appear to have been saved while never taking
effect. Writing it through the settings tool therefore fails outright rather than
accepting and discarding the credential.
The two supported ways to provide a model key are the STRATA19_MODEL_KEY
environment variable itself, and ~/.strata19/credentials.json.
