What it does

Opt in or out of anonymous usage telemetry. OFF by default. When on, transmits ONLY an anonymous install id, session id, event type, and timestamp — never source code, prompts, conversation content, file paths, or any user identifier.

When to use it

Use when: "what exactly does it collect about me" · "enable anonymous telemetry" · "turn off telemetry"

Also use when: you want the current consent state or the payload shape — omit enabled to read only

When not to use it

the user has not asked about telemetry and has not been told it exists
